Car And Box-Truck Accident Results In Fatality
Posted on March 28, 2018
Car accidents happen on a daily basis in Maryland and other parts of the country. Some are minor fender benders. Others result in serious injury and even death. Sadly, this was the case for a man whose vehicle collided with a box-truck. The fatal accident happened on the morning of February 6 in Beltsville in Prince George County. A car and box-truck accident occurred when they crashed into each other at Hanna Street and Ewing Road in Beltsville Industrial Park.
The driver of the box truck was taken to a local hospital to be treated for non-life-threatening injuries. The driver of the car, an adult man, was found by emergency crews in critical condition. He suffered fatal injuries and died at an area hospital.
Police are still investigating the cause of the crash.
What Causes Car Accidents?
While the cause of the accident in this case is unknown, there are many possibilities. One of the most common causes of car crashes is distracted driving. Distracted driving comes in many forms. It can refer to eating, adjusting the radio, talking to passengers, reading, applying makeup and using your cell phone.
Speeding is also a contributing factor in many accidents. In fact, it is the second most common cause of them. The faster you go, the less able you are to control your vehicle. You are not as able to slow down in the event of an emergency.
Drunk driving is also a common cause of car crashes. All motorists know that drunk driving is against the law, but many people do it anyway. Too much alcohol reduces reaction time and judgment.
Weather conditions can also make it hard to drive properly. Rain and snow can make roads slick, while fog can reduce visibility. If possible, you should avoid driving in these conditions.
